Tiger Woods is back. He already appeared at one major golf game and is set to appear at the Players Championship.
The Players Championship started Thursday, May 10, 2018. It is hosted at TPC Sawgrass. The golf course is in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Tiger Woods may not place at all, according to the oddsmakers. They feel Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, or Rory McIlroy will take the win.
PGA Flagship Event was another game in which Tiger Woods was not thought to be a contender, and indeed he did not.
So, what are odds makers saying about the game? The Westgate Super Book believes the top three Spieth, Mcllroy, and Day are going to play for the win, with 14 to 1. Spieth has the shortest odds, despite missing the last three TPC Sawgrass wins. In the first year, Spieth thought he might be able to win, but he missed out. He attributes it to thinking the win would come easily to him. Spieth has not approached another game like that, particularly, a major championship game.
Mcllroy and Day have already had success at the Players. Day gained the win in 2016. Mcllroy has not won. He has always finished in sixth or below.
It is worth mentioning that Si Woo Kim may be able to win again. He gained his win in 2017 but is 80 to 1 to defend his title for the win.
Woods Gains Attention
Tiger Woods will always bring attention to golf. He doesn’t have to win to be remembered for the great games he has played over the years. Tiger had an unexpected beginning to 2018 with a 12th place finish during the Honda Classic. He was also 32nd in the Masters and 55th in the Wells Fargo games. Despite the downsides sports bettors are looking at the 14-time major champ as a possibility to place higher at the Players Championship. He is 30 to 1 for the win.
Phil Mickelson is also at the same odds, and Rickie Fowler is shorter at 16 to 1 odds. Fowler picked up the Players win in 2015. Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Henrik Stenson, and Justin Rose are all on the odds book too, with varying chances of them winning.
The field is rather busy with top players who have shown they are capable of playing a top game. But, Las Vegas tends to favor Tiger Woods even though he has not won a PGA event since 2013.
