According to the SC Education Lottery, the winner was a Lowcountry man, who preferred to remain anonymous. He told lottery officials that he bought the ticket without feeling especially lucky. However, his feelings didn’t matter as his ticket soon revealed a $200,000 top prize.

Speaking to SC Education Lottery officials, the anonymous winner admitted that this was his lucky day after all and added that he had been hoping that such a win would one day happen to him.

To top it all off, the ticket he bought was not something he planned, but a spur-of-the-moment ticket purchase that resulted in what he called a “big surprise,” despite his initial skepticism. The man concluded that he couldn’t be happier with the result and that he feels blessed.

According to the announcement, the mouth-watering win came from a $5 50X ticket that he purchased from the Circle K on Mathis Ferry Rd. in Mount Pleasant. According to the lottery, the store has received a $2,000 bonus for the sale.

Lottery officials said that the Lowcountry winner beat odds of 1 in 990,000 to win the $200,000 payout. It also noted that the 50X game is no longer available.

Midlands Man Won $500K

Earlier this year, another player in South Carolina won big after buying a Ruby Red Treasures scratch-off ticket. While the lucky lottery enthusiast preferred to keep his identity a secret, the lottery vaguely described him as a Midlands man. The prize he won stood at $500,000 and came from a ticket that was purchased at the Piggly Wiggly on S. Guignard Dr. in Sumter.
