One lucky player has much to be happy about after the anonymous winner found out that they had secured $1.69 million from the NC Education Lottery.

Lottery wins are frequent enough, but winning over seven figures is a rarer occurrence. This is why the progressive jackpot won by the lucky devil is impressive and doubly so when you consider the fact that they won off a $0.50 wager.

The jackpot was won at a popular lottery game – The Lamp Dark Arts, which has since reset its jackpot to $100,000, which is the default number. The lottery has confirmed that no winner has yet stepped forward to claim their winnings.

Yet, they have 180 days to do so before the money is forfeited automatically. Since the win was registered electronically, it is very unlikely for the person to miss the prize or to fail to show up and scoop it up.

However, there have been cases where a person would lack a Social Security Number and let another person claim the reward in their name, creating some anecdotal stories, such as the girlfriend in Canada who claimed a lottery ticket on her boyfriend’s behalf, only to dump him afterwards and take a new lover.
