A lucky Powerball player from Florida has won a prize of $1 million after narrowly missing the game’s big jackpot. As a result, the estimated jackpot has continued to grow, reaching new heights.
Powerball’s Latest Jackpot Remains Unclaimed
The Monday Powerball drawing has failed to crown a winner after no player managed to guess all six numbers correctly. However, one player in Florida nailed five of them, narrowly missing the game’s top prize and settling for a smaller seven-figure sum instead.
For context, the winning white numbers for the January 12 drawing were 5, 27, 45, 56, and 59. The Powerball, on the other hand, was 4.
As mentioned, a single lucky lottery enthusiast managed to guess all white numbers correctly, missing only the Powerball. As a result, they will get a prize of $1 million. Had the player activated the game’s Power Play feature, they would have gotten $2 million instead. However, this drawing went without a Power Play winner of a seven-figure sum.
In the meantime, a total of 12 players managed to match four white numbers and the Powerball. Of those, 7 had the Power Play feature active, resulting in prizes of $100,000 for each one. The remaining 5 players will get $50,000 each instead.
If a player had managed to guess all of these numbers correctly, they would have been in for a $141 million payout or a lump-sum option of $63.6 million. Since that didn’t happen, the prize has continued to grow and is currently standing at $156 million with a cash value of $70.5 million.
