Powerball Jackpot Creeps Up Toward $1B Mark as Five Players Win Match 5 Prizes

The Powerball jackpot has remained unclaimed yet again, but five Americans were rewarded for their participation with seven-figure sums. As a result of the unsuccessful attempt on the top prize, it has now exceeded the $900 million mark and is slowly creeping up toward the $1 billion threshold.

Five Ticket-Holders Secured Seven-Figure Sums

The Saturday Powerball drawing has awarded quite a few big prizes, although the top one remains elusive. While no one managed to match all six numbers required to win the jackpot, five players came close, winning seven-figure sums instead.

For reference, the five white numbers drawn on August 8 were 5, 9, 35, 54, and 63. The Powerball was 7 and the Power Play multiplier was 3x. At the time of the drawing, the jackpot stood at $864 million with a cash value of $374.1 million.

As mentioned, five players managed to correctly match the five white numbers. As a result, four of them, players in Arizona, Florida, Michigan, and New York, are now eligible to redeem prizes of $1 million. The fifth player, a ticket-holder in Texas, had the Power Play feature active and will therefore take home $2 million instead.

In addition to that, a staggering 32 players matched four white numbers and the Powerball to win prizes of $50,000 each. An additional 12 players also matched four white numbers and the Powerball, but had the Power Play feature active, increasing the sums they won to $150,000.

Powerball Jackpot Reaches $905M

In the meantime, the Powerball jackpot has now reached $905 million, exceeding the size of the recent Mega Million jackpot. A hypothetical winner would be able to either pick the annuitized option for the full sum or the one-time payment of $391.9 million.

For reference, the Powerball jackpot has been won five times in 2026. As a result of this and the recent Mega Millions win, fans are eagerly anticipating the next Powerball windfall for the year.

In other news, several recent Powerball drawings awarded seven-figure Match 5 prizes to players across America. Some of the most recent recipients of such sums included a player in Ohio who won $1 million and a player in Wisconsin who won $2 million due to having the Power Play feature active.
