Responsible Wagering Australia (RWA) has welcomed sports betting brand Picklebet as its latest member, as the organization attempts to underpin safety standards in the Australian market and create universal rules and code of conduct among operators.

Picklebet Becomes Latest Member to Support RWA in Australia

Picklebet is one of the foremost betting brands in the Australian gambling market, having established itself as a recognizable local name. Even though Picklebet is considered a late arrival to the market (the company only set up shop in 2020 during the pandemic), it has quickly risen to prominence, hiring more than 100 people.

Picklebet has also defied expectations, trying to drive differentiation in the market and its product by putting the emphasis on electronic sports, and running a comprehensive betting offer focused on video game competitions.

Commenting on the addition of this new member, Responsible Wagering Australia CEO Kai Cantwell had this to add:

“Picklebet brings a fresh and innovative perspective to RWA, and we look forward to working closely with them to support a well-regulated, responsible, and sustainable industry.”

The operator was similarly happy to join the ranks of one of the most influential industry bodies that has been actively advocating for safer consumer standards, as well as pushing back against unpopular and potentially business-unfriendly decisions by lawmakers.

Picklebet CEO Nick Heaney was similarly pleased with the opportunity and argued that Picklebet was indeed focused on helping establish high standards for responsibility and player safety.

“Picklebet was built with a focus on innovation, but also with a clear responsibility to do things the right way, and that means being part of the bigger industry conversation,” Heaney said on joining the group.

Responsible Wagering Australia has been a vocal supporter of protecting consumers. The company has focused heavily on ensuring that the regulatory climate remains focused on ensuring that licensed operators are competitive and that offshore operators are kept at bay.
