A woman in Cincinnati has won $1 million from the lottery. The lucky winner was playing the VIP Millions game, according to an official release by the Ohio Lottery.
Ohio Woman Wins Big
In its official press release, the lottery specified that the woman in question won VIP Millions’ top prize, which consists of $40,000 a year for 25 years. Over time, this prize can stack up to a staggering $1 million. However, players can also opt to pick the cash option and take half the bucks immediately.
In this case, the Cincinnati woman went with the cash option of $500,000. After mandatory federal and state taxes, however, the actual sum was reduced by 28 percent, leaving her with $360,000, the lottery clarified.
The Ohio Lottery further noted that the winning scratch-off ticket was sold at Ameristop Food Mart, a store located at 3385 Springdale Road in Cincinnati.
According to the lottery, VIP Millions is a $50 scratch-off game with a top prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years. The lottery added that, as of the time of its press release, there were 30 more top prizes remaining.
