Ever since the United States Supreme Court lifted the federal ban on sports betting, there was a significant upsurge in both legal and illegal gambling operations with the main intent being to attract more customers and bring in even more business. With more and more operators joining the sports betting industry, there have also been even more sponsorships and this can be quite confusing for media outlets. As it turns out, media reporters are not really sure about whether some of these sponsorships are for legal gambling or not.
With so much uncertainty, the media is still unable to spread information about any of these supposedly unlawful gambling which has been described to be illegal and could thus cause problems with the state and federal governments. As such, it is very important for some of the stakeholders to be able to distinguish between illegal and legal betting.
According to the New York Post, the New York Jets have recently entered into a partnership with 888 Holdings. The NFL team is convinced that the partnership that they are in right now does not violate the National Football League’s policies. Most of the ads that are run by the New York Jets do not account for the sports betting sites it has. As the moment, it is not yet clear whether the partnership will later be adequate for the league – the NFL could, in fact, instruct Jets to conceal or cancel the deal.
Fortunately, MetLife Stadium, the home of the Jets which is located in New Jersey already allows sports betting. To make it even better, the revenue from betting activities at the stadium is very close to what Nevada’s gaming industry has to offer.
Also recently, the New York Jets entered into a gaming partnership with MGM resorts which makes it the first-ever NFL deal and includes a game called ‘I Called It’. The game requires players to answer questions about what they think will happen to the Jets in the near future. This is already available through the Jets games app that is currently available exclusively on the New York Jets app that happens to be sponsored by MGM and Play MGM.
The partnership agreement includes in-stadium signage as well as Jets studio sponsorships with the Jets utilizing its ability to film is TV content and digital media content. The deal further entails sponsorship from MGM hotels.
“We can promote our app and our casino, which is valuable to us because it could lead to a sports betting customer,” Scott Butera, the president of interactive gaming at MGM said.
Butera has previously pointed out that MGM is quite pleased with the demographics that have been provided by the New York Jets which is a very good thing because it’s the time where we are at a region where sports betting has now be legalized.
