The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has recently launched a new online self-assessment tool for gamblers.
Available in both English and Maltese, it has been designed to give those with gambling tendencies the ability to assess their conditions.
The free-to-use tool has been developed with the help of multiple organisations, including Sedqa, Caritas Malta, the OASI Foundation, as well as the Responsible Gaming Foundation.
The tool has been modeled as a questionnaire comprising 9 questions whose purpose is to analyze a person’s gambling behavior.
In accordance with the questionnaire’s results, should deemed necessary, people will be provided information on how to seek further assistance
Having been created in an accessible manner, the tool also provides anonymity for its users.
Gambling on the Rise
The increase in the creation of tools like this one has been tied to an increase in the overall number of people gambling.
In many other countries, gambling is becoming more prominent.
The income generated by gambling in the US has increased substantially alongside the popularization of sports betting.
In places like the UK and Europe, an increase in gambling has been attributed to the ease with which one might gain access to it.
Recently, Brazil launched its own personal tool for verifying an online gambling website’s legitimacy, to counteract illegal gambling websites.
Legitimate or Not
The MTG has faced its fair share of online gambling websites fraudulently claiming to be affiliated with the association.
In 2020, PG Soft had its license revoked for falsely claiming to have an MGA license, along with not submitting documentation.
Several months ago, the Filipino government had looked into the Filipino-based online casino PHLove after it was discovered that they had not been listed as certified by any of their mentioned licensees.
