Many people try to play the lottery together, if anything, for the habit and benefit of having someone else check on you and keep an eye out for the ticket. For three friends in Missouri, this has proven to be a successful strategy, but make no mistake – it took a while to pull off.
The trio spent five years playing together, and on April 26, 2025, they found out that they had won the Lotto game together as they always intended to. The win was publicized a little later in an official press release by the Missouri Lottery on May 16.
The winning numbers were 2 – 6 – 8 – 10 – 16 and 28 the lottery clarified and to make things even more fun – the numbers were picked through the Quick Pick function which essentially eliminates the need for players to tinker with the numbers.
It turns out that after five years of playing and not winning, the trio was keener on the habit and trying their luck just in case. Winning the prize of $2 million felt surreal to the players. One of them told the lottery that they just couldn’t believe their luck.
Bit of Moral Support and Adding to the Fun
While many players hope to indeed win the lottery, they do not feel very confident on their own that they would actually succeed. However, players have been teaming up for various reasons – moral support most of all, but also the opportunity to pool their resources and perhaps even increase their odds ever so slightly.
However, there are pitfalls to this, such as disputes over winnings and a lack of documentation. While these agreements usually happen as a mutual spoken understanding, sometimes things may go awry, and with the lack of paperwork to back the arrangement, the lottery cannot help any party.
Lottery officials do not discourage people from playing together, but ask them to prepare some form of basic legal understanding if they do so.
