The Michigan Lottery announced on October 13 that a lucky Kent County man has become the recipient of a prize of almost half a million dollars. The lucky winner, who preferred anonymity, discussed his win with lottery officials, saying that the extra money will provide him with a “nice financial cushion” ahead of his retirement.
The Kent County Man Won Big After Purchasing Several Tickets
The winner was described as a 63-year-old player from Kent County. According to the Michigan Lottery’s announcement, the anonymous man won a $476,728 jackpot from the Fantasy 5 drawing on September 18.
For reference, the winning numbers were 2, 21, 29, 36, and 38.
The player admitted that he was a regular Fantasy 5 player. He added that prior to his win, he had bought a few extra tickets due to the rising jackpot. The Kent County man added that he’d always regularly check the Fantasy 5 results to see whether the jackpot had been won and if so, where the winning ticket was sold.
The day after the drawing, I saw the jackpot was won and saw the winning ticket was purchased at the same store where I purchased mine. I got my tickets out of my car to check them and was blown away when I saw I was the winner!

The winner also noted that the money will be of good help when he retires. He said that he is not ready to retire yet, but when he does, the prize will be a “nice financial cushion during retirement.”
The Michigan Lottery said that the man recently visited the Michigan Lottery HQ to claim his money. Officials added that the winning ticket was sold at the Alpine E-Z Mart on Alpine Avenue in Comstock Park.

Speaking of winners in Michigan, a 69-year-old Macomb County man recently won $500,000 from Spectacular Wild Time, one of the lottery’s instant games. The player said that he started buying $5 tickets only recently and that he does not regret his shift from $2 tickets.
Elsewhere, a Washington Lottery player from Snohomish County hit the Hit 5 jackpot, taking $230,000 home.
