Two Michigan players have won mouth-watering prizes from the lottery. One of them was an instant ticket buyer, while the other was a Powerball enthusiast aiming at the big money.
One Zero, Then Another, and Another
The Michigan Lottery reported that a 69-year-old Macomb County man won $500,000 from Spectacular Wild Time, one of the lottery’s instant games. The player in question said that he used to buy only $2 tickets and that he started buying $5 tickets only recently. This desire for change proved to be a winning choice, netting him half a million dollars.
When I was scratching the ticket, I saw I matched the number six, but I finished scratching the rest of the ticket before revealing the winning amount, which I assumed was $5 or $10. When I scratched the amount, I saw one zero, then another, and another and that’s when I knew I won big! It was unbelievable.

The man added that he was very glad he made the move up to the $5 games.
The Michigan Lottery noted that the winning ticket was sold at Little Mack Beer & Wine, located at 28480 Little Mack Avenue in Saint Clair Shores.
The lottery also said that two more $500,000 top prizes remain, as well as nine $25,000 prizes and ten $2,500 prizes.
Berrien County Wins $150K Thanks to Power Play
In the meantime, a Berrien County man called Michael Werner won $150,000 from Powerball. What made this win so special, however, is the fact that this was the man’s second time playing the game.
The Michigan Lottery clarified that Werner won his prize after matching four of the five white balls and the Powerball. This prize would have usually netted him $50,000, except for the fact that he had the Power Play feature active. As a result, he took $150,000 instead.
This was only my second time ever playing Powerball. My first time was the drawing before this one, so I used my winnings from that to purchase this ticket. I played my own set of numbers, so when I was looking at the results the next day, I recognized them right away.

Werner added that he plans to use the money to travel and pay some bills.
For context, the winning numbers for the September 1 drawing when the prize was won were 8, 23, 25, 40, and 53, with a Powerball of 5.
A few days ago, the Michigan lottery announced two other winners, which also included a recipient of a $150,000 Powerball prize, as well as a $482K Fantasy 5 jackpot winner.
