The Michigan Lottery announced that two lucky locals have won mouth-watering prizes. These include a $482K Fantasy 5 jackpot, as well as a $150K Powerball prize.

Fantasy 5 Regular’s Loyalty Pays Off

On September 10, the Michigan Lottery announced that a fortunate man from Macomb County had won the $481,582 Fantasy 5 jackpot. While the 84-year-old winner preferred to remain anonymous, he commented on his jaw-dropping win, saying that he couldn’t believe his luck.

In an interview with the lottery, the man noted that he bought his ticket online, wrote down the numbers he selected and checked the results on the morning after the drawing.

The morning after the drawing, I got on MichiganLottery.com to look at the results and saw someone won the jackpot. I started matching my numbers and went into shock when I realized I was the jackpot winner!

The man described himself as a regular Fantasy 5 player and was excited that his love for the game finally paid off.

Fantasy 5, for context, is a $1 game where players have to select 5 numbers. In addition to that, players can pay an additional $1 to activate EZmatch for a chance to win $500 instantly. Additionally, they can pay $1 more to activate Double Play for a shot at $110,000 in the nightly Double Play drawing.

The Macomb County winner successfully matched all winning numbers, which were 1, 3, 7, 23, and 38. He said that he plans to share some of his winnings with his loved ones and save the rest.

In the meantime, the Fantasy 5 jackpot was reset to $100,000.

Powerball Player Forgets He Had Power Play Active

On September 11, the Michigan Lottery announced yet another winner, this time from Genesee County. The winner in question won a $150,000 prize from Powerball after correctly matching four white balls and the Powerball.

The prize in question was won in the August 25 drawing, when the winning numbers were 16, 19, 34, 37, and 64, with a Powerball of 22. While the usual prize for matching four numbers and the Powerball is $50,000, the Genesee County player had the Power Play feature active, which multiplied his prize.

The Michigan Lottery said that the winning ticket was sold at the Conlee Country Store, located at 4514 West Vienna Road in Clio.

The 54-year-old winner admitted that he was aiming for the Powerball jackpot, which stood at $777 million at the time.

I play Powerball and Mega Millions whenever the jackpot starts getting up there. I scanned my ticket at the store and got a message to file a claim at the Lottery office. I forgot I added Power Play to my ticket, so I thought I’d only won $50,000. It was quite the surprise when I scanned the ticket on the app and $150,000 came up on the screen!

The winner said that he plans to use the money he won to improve his home, pay some bills and save up.

The Powerball jackpot continued to grow in the wake of the Genesee County player’s win and reached $1.8 billion before it was finally won by two players.
