The Miami Dolphins are without a win over the Indianapolis Colts since 2019. In their last season’s duel, the Colts won 16:10, but the reason for that was that the Dolphins were without their quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa.
In the Week 1 game of the 2025 NFL season, the 27-year-old Hawaiian is expected to play from the very first moment. But bookmakers aren’t sure whether he’ll put on a good enough performance to get his team a win. In fact, based on the odds, the Dolphins are 2-point underdogs.

Can the Miami Dolphins Get Their Revenge?
Fans expect to see a lot from Tua Tagovailoa, but he’ll need help from his teammates. The good news is that the Dolphins still have their fireworks with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, even if Hill’s numbers dipped last season. Most believe he’ll stay the go-to guy in 2025.
The front office is also trying to shake off the “soft” label, spending early draft capital on muscle up front. Rookie lineman Jonah Savaiinaea is one name expected to bring some grit to the trenches.
Offensively, Miami looks set to outperform their last meeting with the Colts – we’re 100% sure about this. The real concern is the other side of the ball.
The secondary has taken heavy hits, with Kader Kohou done for the year and Ashtyn Davis sidelined by a leg injury. That leaves the backfield paper-thin, and you have to wonder – will the Colts be able to exploit it in Week 1?
Reasons Why the Indianapolis Colts are 2-Point Favorites
The main reason why the Colts are expected to win is that they’ve got running back Jonathan Taylor on the roster. He’s one of the best RBs (if not the very best one) in the NFL today, so if the Colts’ passing game goes wrong, they can simply give this man the ball.
But we’re not sure they’re going to do badly passing the ball. In 2025, the Colts have several decent options at QB. Daniel Jones is expected to start, but we wouldn’t be too shocked if coach Shane Steichen decided to put Anthony Richardson in the starting lineup.
Either way, the Colts are predicted to do okay offensively. Defensively? They’re okay, but they’re likely to struggle against Tagovailoa & CO., especially if these guys get into a TD-scoring mood.
Miami Dolphins vs. Indianapolis Colts Prediction
Who’s gonna win the Week 1 clash at Lucas Oil Stadium on September 7? Our pick is Miami. The Dolphins are a serious force on the offense, capable of scoring 30+ points with ease. They did it three times last year, and in the 2025 NFL, we think they’re gonna do even better, starting with the game in the first gameweek.
Pick: Miami Dolphins
