Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $130M After Players Fail to Win It

The Mega Millions jackpot has continued to grow after last Friday’s drawing failed to elect a jackpot winner. The top prize has thus reached $130 million for the upcoming Tuesday drawing.

The Top Prize for the Drawing Was $30K

Mega Millions players have had another unsuccessful drawing since none of them managed to win the top prize. The winning combination proved to be hard to nail right, resulting in a quieter drawing without many significant prizes.

For reference, the jackpot for the drawing on Friday, August 21, was $113 million. A hypothetical winner would have been able to either go with the annuity option for the full sum or the one-time lump sum payment of $48.3 million.

The winning combination for that drawing was 1, 25, 34, 48, and 57, plus the gold Mega Ball 24. As mentioned, the combination turned out to be a difficult one to get right, resulting in few noteworthy wins.

For context, no one managed to match all five white numbers to win a Match 5 prize of between $2 and $10 million. At the same time, only a single player succeeded in matching four white numbers plus the Mega Ball to win a tier-three prize of $30,000 (3x multiplier).

As mentioned, the game’s top prize has now reached $130 million. The cash option for that prize is $55.5 million.

The Jackpot Was Won a Few Weeks Ago

The most recent Mega Millions jackpot was won a few weeks ago when a player in Florida scooped up a mouth-watering payout of $800 million. As of the time of this writing, Mega Millions has not confirmed whether the winner has come forward to claim their incredible prize.

After the jackpot win, the game experienced a few quieter drawings, but has since regained some of its momentum, with a $2 million Match 5 win happening in South Carolina.
