A woman from Randallstown, Maryland, bought a scratch-off ticket at a local Giant Food Store in Owings Mills, resulting in the eye-watering $2,000,000 prize pool reported by the Maryland Lottery.
Early Retirement for Woman Who Scooped $2M Jackpot
The lottery has already shared details about the surprising win that occurred on the MONOPOLY X200 game, resulting in an eye-watering win. In a statement, the lottery said:
“A Baltimore County woman has been playing the Maryland Lottery for years and occasionally wins small prizes. She just won her biggest prize to date, taking home a lottery prize that many can only dream of – a $2 million MONOPOLY X200 top prize,” the lottery said in a press statement.
Spending $50 on a few tickets, the woman did not expect to turn any profit, but she secured $50 off a winning ticket. Yet, she decided to play again and spend another $30 on a single MONOPOLY X200 ticket, which turned out to be the one that fetched the $2-million prize.
Incredulous at her good fortune, the woman nearly threw the ticket away, confused by the “Take to Lottery” message that instructed big winners to verify their tickets at the lottery’s headquarters. Realization did, however, slowly sink in.
Talking to the lottery, the winner did not overshare what her current or plans may be, but she promised she has something good in the works. For starters, she will save the money, as she is planning a retire from her job as a secretary.
