Recently, Casino.org began a promotion to choose a participant to go “ghost hunting” at the El Cortez Hotel and Casino.
The advertisement has presented a plethora of rumors for the one participating to investigate.
An application for the event can be found alongside the advertisement, through which the participant will be selected.
The chosen participant has been promised to receive weekend accommodations in the hotel as well as funds to procure specific “ghost hunting equipment” with which they would “hunt” ghosts.
They will have to take pictures of themselves using the equipment, as well as anything “paranormal” they might encounter.
Alongside that, they would need to fill out a report detailing all their findings, be it scary, funny, or mysterious.
The Casino.org event is called “Vegas Ghost Hunt” and has declared that if victorious, the participant would receive a $5000 prize.
The El Cortez Hotel and Casino has stated that they have no affiliation with the contest.
The Hunting Site
El Cortez has become famous for being the longest-running hotel and casino in Vegas, having been built in 1941.
It has become a part of the city’s history and, at one point, was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
In the past, the hotel has been connected to several notorious mobster organizations, during the time when organized crime played a bigger role in the city.
A brief period in time has been recorded where mobsters owned the building.
The hotel’s rich history, combined with reports of paranormal activities over the years, has earned El Cortez a reputation as a haunted building.
Strangeness in Vegas
Many other strange events like the casino.org one have been held in Vegas before.
One such event has been a power slapping competition, where two participants take turns delivering open-hand slaps to one another.
Another contest, one connected to history, had been a beauty pageant held in Vegas during the atomic era called “Miss Atomic Bomb”.
The event held by Mr Beast called “Beast Games” got filmed in Vegas.
An upcoming bizarre competition coming to Vegas is The Enhanced Games, a contest similar to the Olympics but for people on performance-enhanced drugs.
