Las Vegas Circa Expands to Arizona as Part of Tribal Deal
- Circa has expanded to Arizona through a tribal partnership locally
- The company has been granted a sports betting and event license in the state
- Circa has not committed to a launch date for its betting operations
Las Vegas’ Circa is now expanding into Arizona, after the company received the go-ahead from the Arizona Department of Gaming to offer its sports betting and event wagering products in the state, as part of a tribal partnership struck locally.
Circa Gets Go-Ahead to Offer Sports, Event Betting in Arizona
As per a statement released by the department, Circa Sports Arizona LLC, designee for the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe, has received an event wagering license, allowing it to start offering sports betting and event wagering in Arizona.
Thanks to this license, Circa will soon be available in a seventh state through its sports betting product. The company already holds licenses in Kentucky, Missouri, and Nevada, as well as Colorado, Illinois, and Iowa.
Circa also operates land-based sportsbooks in some of these jurisdictions, including Kentucky, Illinois, and Nevada.
The state has the capacity to host up to 20 sportsbook licenses, with the permits evenly split between tribal operators and professional sports teams, with Arizona serving as an example of a middle-ground regulatory framework where tribal and commercial interests are respected.
Circa Expands Strategically as Competition in Arizona Intensifies
However, Circa has not yet revealed any immediate plans to launch its products, with the license a preparatory step towards a larger expansion. Presently, there are 14 regulated sportsbook operators, with Circa becoming the 15th to join the list.
The company will now compete against such operators as DraftKings, BetMGM, and FanDuel, to name a few, contributing to an already busy local market.
