Last week Vivian Saliba took part in a PLO. This week, it is Hughes getting ready for a win. Plenty of PLO events are being played during the World Series of Poker.
The one Ryan Hughes is taking part in, is the $10K Pot-limit Omaha championship. On day one a new record was set, with 439 participants. Registration is always open until Day 2 begins.
Ryan Hughes was the chip lead after day one with 475,400 chips. It is a number that put him ahead of everyone else, including Veselin Karakitukov, who only had 350,800. Ben Lamb landed third in chips, with 314,100.
Some of the action involves Hughes and James Obst clashing late at night. Both players had a good amount of chips. Obst paid the blind and Hughes raised, due to two jacks hitting the flop. Obst called wit ha small bet, then checked with the ace. Obst eventually check-raised about 60,000, then he laid the rest of his chips down assuming he had the better hand. Obst had to leave after Hughes showed his flush draw.
Joey Ingram was also a sensation during the first day. Ingram is known for his YouTube channel, and his enjoyment of Omaha, pot-limit. He was able to gain 258,500 chips.
Stephen Chidwick was at the table with 245,300 at the end. Michael Kamran walked off with 290,000. Layne Flack earned 206,400. Michael Mizrachi was sitting good with 275,100. Of course, this is just the first day results, so anything can happen as long as a person still has chips.
Not everyone was having luck during this tournament. Daniel Negreanu, Kahle Burns, Kory Kilpatrick, Kyle Bowker, and Maxx Coleman did not have good starts. Play began again at 2pm on Sunday. The results are not known for Day 2 as yet.
There are still plenty of tables for poker players to sit at. Each table, save a few have, eight players. With plenty of competitions and a few days to go, it will be interesting to see who will actually win. Hughes is sitting in a good position.
Daniel Negreanu may not win a bracelet. There is a bet going on as to whether Negreanu or Hellmuth will get more bracelets, but it is not looking good for Negreanu.
