GGPoker, the world’s biggest poker room, has unveiled a new UK-facing marketing campaign featuring famous British comedian Johnny Vegas.
Johnny Vegas Will Highlight What Makes Poker Special
Michael Joseph Pennington, better known as Johnny Vegas, is an English comedian best known for his Lancashire accent, comedic rants and sometimes surreal jokes. According to GGPoker’s latest announcement, Johnny will join its team to reignite poker in the UK.
The new campaign is titled Face Off and will celebrate the thrill and entertainment associated with poker. As a result, the campaign will highlight the “human” side of poker, putting an emphasis on the bluffing and rivalries that are a core part of the game and the community.
Johnny Vegas will leverage the humor he is known and loved for to highlight how unpredictable, intense, and emotional a game of poker can be.
Johnny’s trademark personality will allow GGPoker to reimagine how the game is advertised to the public. Among other things, Face Off will highlight GGPoker as a place where players can experience all facets of the game and scratch their need for healthy competition and strong camaraderie with other players.
The new campaign is designed to appeal to both casual players and experienced poker veterans.
Face Off to Appear Across Various Channels
Face Off will include digital, TV and live activations across the UK and Ireland. As part of the campaign, fans can look forward to exclusive content and challenges, as well as player-focused experiences.
Face Off will be extensively promoted across social media and YouTube. At the same time, the campaign will feature on radio channels, such as talkSPORT, ACAST, and Sports Social, and TV channels like BVOD, Cinema, and CTV. Poker fans can also expect outdoor displays and BAU executions. The campaign will also be promoted via mail and SMS.
In the meantime, Johnny Vegas will join GGPoker for a variety of live activations that will further reinforce the player experience.
Not Just About the Cards
Angela Martin, GGPoker’s head of marketing for the UK and Ireland, commented on the launch of Face Off, saying that the goal of the campaign is to remind people how they came to love the game.
It’s not just about the cards; it’s about the tension, and the moments of genius (or madness) that make it such a uniquely human game.
Angela Martin, head of marketing for the UK and Ireland, GGPoker
Martin added that Johnny Vegas was a perfect fit for the campaign due to his legendary status in British comedy.
