Flamengo advanced to the knockout stage of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup by winning Group D. The Brazilians did it by beating Esperance Tunis and Chelsea, and playing a draw with Los Angeles FC.

They’re facing Bayern Munich in the round of 16, a team that started the campaign in top gear with wins over Auckland City and Boca Juniors, but then lost to Benfica – that’s why the German champions finished second in Group C.

Flamengo Must Not Be Underestimated

Flamengo finished the group phase of the 2025 Club World Cup with a 2-1 record. Their best performance was in the game with Chelsea, in which they won 3:1. After going 1:0 down at halftime, coach Filipe Luis put the club legend Bruno Henrique on the pitch.

The 34-year-old forward scored the equalizer a few minutes later. Then, he made an assist to Danilo, a defender best known for his time spent with Juventus. The third goal was the work of Flamengo’s homegrown midfielder Wallace Yan.

The Brazilian team did well that day, showing that its roster is a combo of experience with a thirst for success. These guys can give war to big European teams, but we do understand why their CWC odds are against them. The reason is simple – Bayern Munich’s players are much, much better.

Now’s the Time for Bayern Munich to Up Their Game

If they want to win the Cup, they need to up their game ASAP. The German champions started the competition with a huge 10:0 win over Auckland, but then struggled to beat Boca Juniors. It was 2:1 in the end, but only thanks to a late (84th minute) goal by Michael Olise.

That game was an indicator that Bayern’s form might be dropping, and the game with Benfica proved it. In the final round of the group phase, the Germans lost 1:0 to the Portuguese side.

It was a boring game, really, with Bayern keeping the ball in their possession for nearly three-quarters of the time but failing to create too many chances. In fact, they made only four shots at goal.

The reason for this is that coach Vincent Kompany decided to give a day off to most of his key men. Our prediction is that the same won’t be the case in the Flamengo vs. Bayern game, in which we expect to see Harry Kane, Joshua Kimmich, and other stars in the starting lineup.

Flamengo vs. Bayern Munich Prediction

We think that both teams are great offensively, which is why “both teams to score” looks like a very good bet. However, we also think that Bayern Munich is a much, much better team than Flamengo, so no matter how many goals the Brazilians score, the German champs will score at least one more.
