The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has published its latest Annual Activity Report, providing insights into the European gaming sector’s achievements and financial performance over the past 12 months. While EGBA members succeeded in raising player standards across the industry, the sector’s revenue also experienced an increase.

Safer Gambling Week Shattered Previous Participation Records

In its Annual Activity Report 2026, the EGBA reported significant progress in setting and raising standards across the European gaming sector. Among other things, operators improved their approach to protecting players from harmful advertising and also bolstered their anti-money laundering systems.

The 5th edition of the annual European Safer Gambling Week initiative, on the other hand, recorded record participation and impact across Europe. For the first time ever, safer gambling messaging was displayed during TV broadcasts of live soccer matches, marking a significant achievement. To top it all off, the EGBA also launched its safergambling.eu platform to provide consumers with information about country-specific helplines and self-exclusion services.

Safer Gambling Tool Usage Increased

The Annual Sustainability Report 2025, meanwhile, shows that EGBA members’ sustainability efforts continued. A record 26.7 million players, representing 69% of all customers playing with EGBA member companies, were found to have had safety tools activated. This figure represents an increase of 28% year-on-year.

The EGBA also championed the approval of the first European standard of harm for online gambling and launched a Responsible Influencer Marketing Pledge in partnership with EASA.

The financial aspect of things shows that EGBA operators accounted for roughly 30% of all online GGR in Europe. In 2025, EGBA members’ total GGR reached $20.6 billion, up 34% year-on-year. This reflected a significant increase in the total sum wagered to $315 billion.

During that period, member companies contributed $4.3 billion to the broader European economy.

In the meantime, the EGBA family continued to grow, welcoming Tipico as a new member and Yaspa as a new associate member.

EGBA Secretary General Says He Is Pleased with the Progress

Maarten Haijer, secretary general of the EGBA, was very pleased with the progress, calling the previous year a “landmark one” for the association. He said that the growing impact of European Safer Gambling Week, the approval of the first European standard on markets of harm, the new standards on influencer marketing, and the continued AML progress were all significant achievements for the gaming sector.

Haijer added that Finland’s transition to a multi-licensed market is also a very important development.

Looking ahead, we’ll continue our efforts to set standards across the industry and to promote balanced and smart regulation across Europe.
