Operators are constantly seeking new ways to engage players, often resorting to expensive marketing campaigns and tempting promotions. DraftKings’ latest campaign on X has now amassed over a million views and thousands of comments, despite not mentioning a prize.

Thousands of Players Joined the Game

Unlike more elaborate campaigns with strict rules and clearly defined terms, DraftKings’ latest campaign was simple. On X, the company invited players to pick a number between 1 and 1,000,000, without providing any further details.

The simplicity of this campaign immediately resonated with players and thousands went on to comment a random number. While the operator had made no promises other than wishing fans good luck, many were excited about the opportunity to join the game.

As of the time of this writing, the original post, which was published on July 23, boasts over 1.5 million views and 21K comments. The operator has clearly not forgotten about it, as it has kept on returning with regular updates, confirming that no one has guessed the correct number yet.

As time went on, the company decided to provide fans with a little help. On July 26, DraftKings Sportsbook noted that a total of 25K people had joined the game. At that point, it teased that the correct number was higher than 750,000 but lower than 850,000, drastically reducing the range.

On July 27, DraftKings released another update, saying that 35K people have unsuccessfully tried to guess the correct answer so far. The company then made things even easier, saying that the winning number begins with a 7.

The Show Goes on

DraftKings’ updates have made things significantly easier. Instead of a 1 in 1,000,000 chance, players now have a 1 in 50,000 chance of guessing correctly instead.

While this has made winning significantly easier, it is unclear whether the winner will actually get anything. Some suggested that the right number may not even exist, as this campaign lacks an official ruleset.

Whatever the case, it has been a success for DraftKings as it has engaged thousands of players.

The game will continue since no one has guessed the correct number yet. On July 29, DraftKings confirmed that no one had won yet.

People continued to comment under the new post, with some creatively employing the services of X’s AI assistant, Grok, to help them pick a number.
