Better Collective North America CEO Marc Pedersen has said that he is stepping down after 18 years with the company he helped build from nearly the ground up.
Pedersen Closes 18 Years with Better Collective
Pedersen has been one of the leading figures in the affiliate, overseeing some of its most ambitious deals and pivoting its geographical expansion over the past years, specifically the company’s ambitious push into the North American market, incentivized by the overturning of PASPA. In a statement on LinkedIn, Pedersen added:
“After nearly 18 years, last Monday was my final day at Better Collective. When I joined in 2007, we were just a few people cramped in a room in Christian and Jesper’s apartment. By 2017, organic growth had taken us far, but that year marked a new phase as we kicked off our M&A strategy.
I had the privilege of leading the first ~25 acquisitions. When PASPA was overturned, we seized the moment – acquiring VegasInsider and RotoGrinders. I stepped in to lead BC’s North American operations while continuing M&A. More followed – Action Network, a part of Better Collective, Playmaker, and Playmaker Capital – we suddenly had a ‘dream portfolio.”
The seasoned veteran joined the company back in 2007, during which time he headed the Scandinavian markets. Over the following years, he gradually worked his way upward and was promoted to deputy director of business development, where his talent in developing products and portfolios truly could shine.
Pedersen to Be on a Leave as He Plans His Next Career Move
After his appointment to the senior position, he was shifted to the director of business development, where he would also contribute to the company’s expansion and M&A strategy, and eventually became the CEO of North America for Better Collective in 2019.
Under his guidance, Better Collective would quickly go on to secure leadership positions in the emerging US market. Pedersen is stepping down immediately, taking leave from the company, as he plans his next career move.
So far, Better Collective has not announced a new person who will fill in for Pedersen, but a new name should be revealed before long.
