For one unsuspecting and incidental lottery player, the day would be much better than originally expected. The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery announced on October 20 that a state player has been able to scoop a $1-million win, while thinking of gunning for a much bigger prize – the $625 million.
Man Gives Up on Mega Millions, Scoops Retirement Prize at Another Game
The Garland County man admitted that he didn’t really have any intention to buy a lottery ticket, but once he made up his mind to buy one just in case, he was set that it must be the Mega Millions. He almost bought the ticket before he realized that another game – the Lotto, caught his eye.
The jackpot was running at $1 million, and the man felt compelled to try his luck at a little more down-to-earth game, as if chasing the Mega Millions jackpot was in itself an impossible feat. He asked the clerk at the shop if it was right to buy a ticket for the game and was invited to.
The ticket was bought in time for the October 15 drawing, which turned out to be his winning one! While he wasn’t necessarily excited about his chances, the man woke up at 4:30 am and checked the ticket – it said: “Winner – claim at lottery,” and the sum was $1.338 million.
The winning numbers for the game were 1, 5, 23, 30, 23, 40, and a bonus number of 33. As to the man, while he was not planning on playing the lottery or hoping for anything much, he already had a plan.
