Amir Albazi Ready for a 5-Round War on August 2
Amir Albazi is 17-2 overall, with his only losses happening after the final bell. The last time he lost was last November against Brandon Moreno. He lost by decision after 25 minutes of intense fighting.
While he did do well wrestling-wise, he really got beaten up by Moreno, who landed 132 significant strikes that night. Meanwhile, Albazi landed just 63.
Albazi is a powerful striker, but he’s very hittable. On the bright side for “The Prince,” he’s a very good wrestler whose specialty is submissions. The problem, however, is that literally the same goes for his next opponent.
Reasons Why Oddsmakers Think Taira Will Win
Tatsuro Taira is 16-1 with his only loss happening last November against Brandon Royval. He lost that fight by a split decision after five rounds. Royval beat him up, landing almost three times more strikes.
However, Taira did okay when wrestling is concerned. He landed six takedowns, the highest in his UFC career. While he did lose that fight, he and Royval received a Fight of the Night bonus from the UFC.
On paper, Taira looks pretty similar to Albazi. They’re both amazing wrestlers, but their striking isn’t that great. However, even though the Japanese fighter doesn’t land too many strikes, his punches and kicks are very powerful.
Amir Albazi vs. Tatsuro Taira Prediction
We think that Taira is a better fighter than Albazi. Their wrestling is at a similar level, but the Japanese fighter has superior striking abilities. Does this mean we predict he’ll finish Albasi with a KO/TKO. Not really, as Albazi is tough as nails.
We think that a more likely scenario is that the fight will last until the final bell. However, if Taira lands some strikes, he’ll hurt Albazi and get himself a win by decision.
Pick: Tatsuro Taira
