The 2025 Grant Park 165 is the second race of the NASCAR In-Season Challenge. It’s the only NASCAR event that’s run on a street course. In this particular case, it’s the Chicago Street Course, which covers 2.2 miles in the city’s central business center.
So far, this event has been run twice, with Alex Bowman and Shane van Gisbergen winning it in 2024 and 2023. The Chicago Street Course is also the home to one NASCAR Xfinity race – The Loop 100 – which van Gisbergen won last year.
Will he do it again, this coming Sunday at Grant Park 165 in Windy City? Read this preview until the end to see our prediction!

2025 Grant Park 165 Odds Favor Shane van Gisbergen
Shane van Gisbergen stands practically no chance of becoming the next NASCAR Cup Series champion. SVG is horrible when it comes to driving at superspeedways and ovals. However, he’s a real expert when it comes to street courses.
Unfortunately for him, such courses are rare in NASCAR. In fact, Grant Park 165 is the only race of the 2025 Cup Series that will be driven through city streets.
However, there was one race that’s somewhat similar to the one taking place in Chicago. What we’re talking about is the 2025 Viva Mexico 250 race, which is a road-style event. Guess who won that race? Shane van Gisbergen.
Other Drivers to Watch Out for at 2025 Grant Park 165
In addition to the top favorite (SVG), there are another two drivers with 2025 Grant Park 165 odds shorter than +1000. These are, namely:
- Christopher Bell (+700) – While he’s a well-rounded driver, his expertise is road racing. The evidence of this is that he finished second in the Viva Mexico 250 race a few weeks ago. His memories from Chicago aren’t that shiny, though, with his best result being the No. 9 position.
- Kyle Larson (+700) – Some NASCAR fans consider this guy the best driver in the world, but the fact is that he hasn’t done much lately. In fact, his best finish in the last six races was the No. 5 position in Michigan in early June.
Other drivers who stand a good chance of winning on June 6 – according to Grant Park 165 odds – include Chase Elliott, Ty Gibbs, and Tyler Reddick, each with +1200 odds at the moment.
2025 Grant Park 165 Prediction
Our pick is SVG. This guy is simply the best driver in NASCAR when it comes to street racing. He’s already won one Cup Series race this year and has a great record when it comes to competing at the Chicago Street Circuit with two wins here – one at Grant Park 165 and one in Xfinity The Loop 100.
Pick: Shane van Gisbergen
